This was something I heard
from Masao
Kunihiro, currently
a distinguished visiting professor of the University of Edinburgh.
In early 1997, I had an oppotunity to attend a welcome party for
several Australian high school students which was held at the
Australian embassy to Tokyo. I thought that it would be a good
idea to take several Japanese high school students rather than
going by myself.
Prof. Kunihiro has given me many chances to meet world leaders,
including Nobel Prize winners. Those meetings have become treasures
in my mind. Since it is impossible to repay the Professor for
these valuable opportunities, I would
like instead to give chances to younger people.
