Attache/Secretary to Laotioan Ambassador to Tokyo Mr. Khamla Khoutlavong and Second Secretary Ms Bounmy Keophouvong gave a lecture at Atsugi City Public Tobio Elementary School in Kanagawa Prefecture On 27 November,2009. They spoked in English and the representative of parents Mr William Umebayashi was in charge of interpretation. About 100 pupils atteded this lecture from its fifth and sixth grade. Following is what they mainly told:

49 ethnic group have each language and culture in Laos. They often do not communicate through each launguage. Common language is Lao. We have both of President and Prime Minister.
There is quite a few mountain, forest, green. Elephants deers and tiger live there. In 1955, Japan and Laos started its deplomatic relationship. Japan is one of support contries to Laos. What we would like to say to the future Japanese leaders here, we appreciate Japan build bridges, hospitals, roads and so on in Laos. The principal food is stiky rice. There is quite kind of soup. Since textbooks cannot be provided to pupils, teachers read or write subjects and pupils copy them into notebooks. In local area, pupils go to school and help parents such as fishing, rice planting and so on. Also some of them play riding on water baffalos.

@@-------------Pupils asked many question. Such as-------------
EOnly papar money is issued?@¨ That is right. We have no coin money.
EHave you experienced war?@@@@¨ Yes. We experienced war in 1970th.
--------------------------------------------------------

I visited the Embassy in advance
@Finally, pulils sing their school song as present for the embassy staffs. After this event, the embassy staffs, Mr Umebayashi and I joined school lunch time.
The embassy sutaffs and I hit Hayashi Juniro High School and Tomuro Elementary School as well. Those school have Laotian nationality pupils and students. In general, it is rare that embassy staff visits school like this.
When I used to go to school, there is no foreign classmate. However, time has changed. It is said that every school has non Japanese students. So there is demand of inter cultural communication among schools. I am interested in inter cultural communication. Supply and demand is in harmony between schools and my interesting.
A principal of high caliber, understanding teachers and goodness of communication among school are essencial to realize this kind of irregular plan.
I hope this event is going to be a chance to have hope to pupils.
